Online Roulette Dictionary

In online roulette play it is vital for you to know all the definitions for many common terms used in games of roulette. So if you don’t the major terms then please read further. I have also included some terms which perhaps are not so common. This is an online roulette dictionary.

American Wheel – Contains a double zero and single zero, whereas a European roulette wheel only has a single zero
Column Bet – Betting on a whole column of numbers, usually in French Cologne
Complete a Number – Covering a single number with chips which includes all lines and corners associated with that number.
Corner Bet – When you place your chips on the corner of the number, thus wagering a bet on 4 numbers
Croupier – Effectively the Dealer in a game of roulette – the croupier handles the wheel on behalf of the casino
Double Zero – American roulette wheels have a single zero and a double zero, as opposed to a European wheel which only has one zero
En Plain – A single bet on a single number, sometimes referred to as a “straight bet”
En Carra – A bet on four separate numbers, also known as a square bet
European Roulette – A French Roulette wheel with only a single zero
First, Second and Third Dozen – A bet on twelve individual numbers
French Roulette – A European wheel with only a single zero
Gamblers Fallacy – Also known as the Martingale double up system
High/Low Bet – as you would expect, in French this is Passe/Manque
‘In Prison’ Rule – A special rule found in many casinos throughout Europe and online
Inside Bet – When a bet is placed on any numbers on the table. This would include bets on 5 and 6 numbers, corners, splits etc. The opposite of an outside bet
La Partage Rule – Another special rule only usually found in either European casinos and some online
Line Bet – A wager which covers two street bets
Martingale – A certain betting strategy
No More Bets – A request for players to cease adding any new wagers to the table
Odd/Even Bet – To bet on either an odd or even number, in French this is pair/impair
Oscar’s Grind – Another gambling system, more info on which can be sourced online
Outside Bet – Any bet placed along the outside edge of the table
Red/Black Bet – Self explanatory, in French its rouge/noire
Single Zero Wheel – French roulette wheel with only a single zero
Six Number Bet – A wager placed on a line, also known as a transversal simple
Split Bet – One bet placed across two numbers on the table
Square Bet – A bet on four numbers, none of which contain a zero
Straight Bet – A single bet on a single number on the table
Street Bet – A bet on three numbers
The Cancellation System – Another betting system also known as The Labouchere Betting System
The d’Alembert – Yet another betting system
The Fibonacci Sequence – A mathematical sequence of numbers wherein the sum of the previous two numbers equals the next number in the pattern. A betting system was also devised using this concept
Transversal Plaine – A bet on three numbers, also known as a street bet
Trio Bet – Another term for betting on three numbers
Zero – self explanatory
Zero Chips – in French = Zero Jeton(s)
